Julian Heyworth
Managing Director
Julian is a graduate with an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering. Post graduation
he was successfully selected to join the government’s Teaching Company Programme as an
Associate with responsibility to forge beneficial and lasting partnerships between local
business and academia. Upon completion of the associateship contract, Julian accepted a
role with a large West Yorkshire engineering business in which he provided specialised
tribology and kinematics expertise for high speed press machinery. He rose quickly
through the company’s technical department to head it in 1997.
In 2000, Julian joined Meltog Limited as Director of Engineering before taking the wider
role of Technical Director. In 2004, he headed the team which purchased the Meltog
business from “Meltog Limited” and facilitated its incorporation into the new business,
The Metal Machinery Company Limited (MMCo). Julian is the Managing Director of MMCo
Limited (which trades as Meltog) but he still maintains a strong interest in the
company’s technical direction.

Richard Lee
Manufacturing Director
Richard has been actively involved within the engineering sector for over 36 years.
He served a Technological Apprenticeship with The Butler Machine Tool Company and has
worked in various roles over a period of 23 years including Production Engineering,
Maintenance Management and Machine Shop manager.
In 1993 Richard joined Milldale Ltd (Huddersfield) as Production Manager for their range
of industrial shredding machines and environmental products. He accepted the role of
Production Director for the company in 1996. Richard was instrumental the in merger of
Milldale Limited into Meltog Limited and then the subsequent MBO of Meltog Limited from
Jacobs Holdings plc. In the new enlarged company Richard took on the wider mantle of
Manufacturing Director. In 2004, Richard joined the team which purchased Meltog and provided
invaluable assistance in assimilating it into MMCo Limited. Richard continues in the role of
Manufacturing Director for MMCo and additionally provides a detailed knowledge of the company’s
environmental products.

David Watson
Operations Director
David’s career in manufacturing spans some four decades and has encompassed a diversity of
roles including Jig and Tool Design, Production Engineering, and Production /Manufacturing
Management. David joined Meltog Limited in 1999 to manage the company’s operational needs
and he was central part of the team which purchased Meltog in 2004 and with Richard was
largely responsible for making the new company work.
David’s role at MMCo. is that of Operations Director. His responsibilities are primarily
those of Purchasing of materials and services and the arrangement of Packing and Transport
of products to its customers worldwide. Additionally, David is responsible for the implementation
of the company’s ISO9001 Quality Management System.
During the early 1980’s David successfully achieved an MBA in Strategic Management from
Bradford University.

Paul Glover
Sales Director
Paul is referred to by many that know him as “Mr. Meltog”. Having served his apprenticeship
and worked for GEC for a number of years rising to the position of Charge-hand, he joined
Meltog in 1977 in the role of foreman of the assembly shop. By 1981, Paul’s aptitude for
selling saw him move from the assembly shop into sales. His practical, no nonsense approach
proved a winning formula, as he gained quickly a managerial position and in the 1990’s was
appointed to the company’s Board as Sales Director. Paul’s long service with Meltog has seen
him visit and sell capital machinery into over 90 countries across the globe.
Paul was a central member of the team during the transition in 2004 from Meltog Limited into
MMCo Ltd and he remains Sales Director for all the Meltog portfolio.
Paul is also a director of a successful football club and is always proud to be a Yorkshireman!

Darren Ellis
Spares and Service Manager
Darren completed his apprenticeship with the former coal industry goliath, British Jeffry
Diamond and joined Meltog in 1993 as a CAD design engineer working on a variety of can
manufacturing machinery projects. As a Senior Design Engineer, Darren assumed responsibility
for Meltog’s tooling design and he has an in depth knowledge of both can making and linear and
spiral seam filter tooling. In 2002, he choose to pursue a slightly different course by accepting
the role of Purchasing Manager for Meltog. Darren remained and was successful in that role until
he joined the new company in 2004.
At MMCo, Darren set up the CAD system and assisted greatly in ensuring the company’s business
information systems were fully functional. For three years he remained in a design role and
oversaw the implementation of the company’s new 3D CAD system. Latterly and with a wealth of
Meltog product experience behind him, Darren has moved and now heads up the Spares and Service
division of the company. With this product knowledge he is ideally placed to help resolve any
technical queries and to source those vital spare parts. Look out also for his regular promotional

Andrew Wood
Engineering Manager
Andrew joined the company in 2007 to head up the company’s design department. Andrew studied
at Newcastle University and is a Mechanical Engineering graduate. He has previously worked in
special purpose machinery design and jig and fixture design and was involved in project
management for a large automotive component supplier in West Yorkshire.
Andrews primary role is to coordinate drawing office activities and to ensure all design
objectives are achieved, providing the all important link between sales, design and manufacture.
He also performs a strategic function in help to build the department to meet its future challenges.

John Woodhead
Company Secretary and Financial Controller
John was recruited to MMCo in November 2004 to strengthen the business’s financial department.
He manages the company’s day to day financial transactions as well as providing invaluable
assistance to the Board and general Company Secretarial duties.
John had previously spent 24 years in a similar position with another engineering business.

Malcolm Murray
Malcolm has a wealth of experience covering a diverse range of production engineering activities from machine programming to production control and he has worked with a number of high profile engineering groups in West Yorkshire.
He joined Meltog as a planning engineer in 1993 with responsibility for purchasing, ratefixing and assisting in the re-location of the company to its Birstall site.
Malcolm re-located to Leeds in 2004 with MMCo. His experience in dealing with a myriad of suppliers from the world over proved invaluable in setting up the new company’s systems. Malcolm is now responsible for placing and supplying all parts required to build the company’s products, for building good relationships with our suppliers and ensuring that quality parts are delivered on time and within budget.
Malcolm’s achievements are not restricted to his business life; in 2005 he was elected President of the Leeds Association of Engineers and still retains a strong relationship with the Association as Membership Secretary.
